Todd
E. Williams, M.D. has special interests in lung, head/neck and
esophageal cancers. Dr. Williams has been an invited reviewer for many
peer reviewed journals and has published nine articles and five abstracts
or manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Williams received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University
of South Carolina and his M.D. from MUSC in Charleston.
Dr. Williams performed his general surgery internship and radiation oncology
residency at MUSC. Dr. Williams is licensed in South Carolina and Board
Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology.
Before joining Carolina Regional Cancer Center, Dr. Williams was an Assistant
Professor of Radiation Oncology at MUSC. During his tenure at MUSC, Dr.
Williams was involved in research on such esoteric subjects as the development
of an iso-effect equation between low dose rate I-125 brachytherapy and
acute, fractionated radiotherapy, taking into account both intratherapy
cellular proliferation and division delay.
At MUSC, Dr. Williams was principal investigator on a number of leading
edge studies related to optimum radiation doses, reducing toxicity, and
increasing effectiveness of radiation therapy on lung, and head/neck cancer
patients. Dr. Williams was also a National Cancer Institute investigator
on a study related to esophageal cancer patients. He remains a clinical
assistant professor in radiation oncology at MUSC.
