Carolina Regional Cancer Center (CRCC), an affiliate of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, has initiated a Pilot Program to study the benefits of Adaptive Treatment Planning utilizing the TomoTherapy® Hi•Art® Treatment System, one of the most effective forms of radiation treatment available. Adaptive treatment planning involves measuring the radiation dose being delivered to the tumor and the surrounding healthy tissue during treatment and adopting a new optimal treatment plan as the tumor shrinks. The newly adopted treatment plan will better conform the radiation dose to kill the cancerous tumor and reduce the dose to the surrounding healthy tissue, thereby reducing potential side effects.

HCC is one of only 64 other cancer centers in the U.S. and the only institution in South Carolina to receive this special designation.
